Air conditioner — Daikin, LG, Samsung, Mitsubishi, Intesis gateways and cooling automation

Connect Daikin (Onecta API), LG (ThinQ Connect), Samsung (SmartThings) and Mitsubishi Electric (MELCloud, MELCloud Home) air conditioners through the manufacturer cloud — from the HEMS server, no connector — and units of many brands through an Intesis Modbus RTU gateway and the ESP32 connector. HEMS reads operation, mode, setpoint and room temperature, and switches on/off, changes mode and temperature by command through the Command Gateway.

Step by step

  1. Daikin: create an application

Sign in to developer.cloud.daikineurope.com with your Daikin account and create an application. As the redirect URI enter the address shown in the HEMS add-device form (…/panel/onecta/powrot). Copy the Client ID and Client Secret.

  2. Daikin: add the device and connect the account

Devices → Add → “Through the manufacturer's cloud”, model “Daikin — Onecta API”, enter the Client ID and Client Secret. On the device page click “Connect Daikin account” and sign in with the owner's Onecta account. Add several units on one account as separate devices with the same application.

  3. LG: personal token

On connect-pat.lgthinq.com sign in with your LG ThinQ account, create a token (PAT) with device permissions and add the device: model “LG — ThinQ Connect API”, token and country code (PL). LG allows changing the temperature only in cooling and heating, in 1 °C steps.

  4. Samsung: SmartThings app

Install the SmartThings CLI and run “smartthings apps:create” (OAuth-In App, scopes r:devices:* and x:devices:*, redirect URI from the HEMS form — …/panel/smartthings/powrot). Add the device: model “Samsung — SmartThings API”, Client ID and Client Secret, then “Connect SmartThings account” on the device page.

  5. Mitsubishi: MELCloud account

Model “Mitsubishi — air conditioner in MELCloud” or “… in MELCloud Home”: the app account e-mail and password (the same account as for Ecodan heat pumps). Several units on the account — add each as a separate device; HEMS picks the next one.

  6. Intesis: connect the gateway

The INMBS…001I000 gateway (matching the unit brand) connects to the indoor unit and to the connector's RS485 module (A to A, B to B). Factory settings: address 1, 9600 bit/s, 8N2. Check switch SW4: temperature format ×10 or ×1 — choose the driver with the same format.

  7. Check reading and control

On the device page the “Air conditioner” card shows running state, mode and temperatures. Use the buttons and the temperature field to check that commands reach the unit. In simulation mode commands do not reach the unit.

  8. Enable automation

Energy Brain → “Air-conditioning automation”: choose the unit, base temperatures and comfort limits for cooling and heating, the PV surplus threshold and the shift. Start in simulation mode.

HEMS never switches the unit on or off or changes its mode by itself — it only changes the setpoint while the unit is cooling or heating.

Daikin Onecta: limit of 200 API calls per day — reading every 15 min; when the limit is exceeded HEMS pauses as Daikin's response says. LG, Samsung and Mitsubishi — reading every 5 min.

Newer Intesis gateways (e.g. DK-RC-MBS-1) use a different register map — currently the INMBS…001I000 series is supported.

Maps and integrations are not verified on a device — please report the result of the first run.
