What you will need
- ESP32 connector on the same network as the Deye logger (or a Deye Cloud account)
- IP address of the Deye Wi-Fi logger (e.g. from the router’s device list)
- Details of string inverters, if the site has any
Step by step
-
Add Deye through the connector
Connector page → “Scan network” or “Add inverter logger by IP address” (Solarman V5 protocol, port 8899). Choose the Deye 3-phase SG04LP3 or 1-phase SG03LP1 model. The connector fetches the new configuration within about a minute and first readings usually appear after a few minutes.
-
Or through the cloud
Without a connector: the “Deye Cloud site” model (reading every 5 min, with history import) — see the Deye Cloud article.
-
Energy storage
Deye itself reads storage power and SOC — without a separate BMS the balance takes them from the inverter automatically and you tick nothing. With a separate BMS or a storage unit with its own reading, tick “Primary source” on the one you trust more.
-
String inverters
Reading Deye over Modbus / Solarman V5 (registers PV1–PV4) covers only strings connected directly to the Deye. Add string inverters as separate devices (their own reading or the manufacturer’s cloud) — their production is summed with Deye. Do not tick “whole site production” on the Deye then.
-
Meter at the grid connection
If you have an energy meter at the grid connection (e.g. Zamel MEW-01), tick “Primary source” for grid power on it — import and export in the balance then come from the same meter as your grid billing.
-
Check the balance
On the Deye page, in the “Role in the site balance” section, check the “Used in balance now” column, and on the dashboard compare production, grid and storage with the Deye app.
The Deye register map comes from the ha-solarman community project and is “unverified” — report differences through the verification wizard.
Power from the GEN port (string inverters connected to Deye as AC coupling) is not read over Modbus today — add those inverters separately.
Questions and problems
How do I mark that Deye produces PV?
No need — every device reporting PV production is included in the sum. In the “Role in the site balance” section, next to PV production, you will see “this device” or the list of inverters being summed.
How do I mark that Deye handles the storage?
When Deye reports storage power and SOC and no other device has these data, the balance takes them from Deye automatically. You tick “Primary source” only with two sources (e.g. Deye and a separate BMS).
How long until the first reading?
The connector fetches the configuration within about a minute; first data usually appears a few minutes after adding the inverter. If nothing after 10 minutes — check the logger IP address and the connector logs.
Where do I see Deye read errors?
On the inverter page, in the “Device events” card — it also lists connector entries about this inverter (READ_FAIL with the error text, READ_OK on the first successful read, logger address change). Since firmware 0.30.1 the connector reports an error on the first failed attempt (older — after 3), then about every 60 attempts. All connector logs are on its page (“Connector logs”).
How do I check the logger connection step by step?
On the inverter page, in the “Connection test” card, click “Test connection” (connector firmware 0.30.1+). The connector checks: whether the inverter is in its configuration, whether port 8899 answers, whether the logger reports its serial number (UDP 48899) and whether registers can be read. Each step has a result and a time — you see right away what to fix (IP address, SN, protocol). After adding the inverter from a scan or by IP the test runs automatically.
I chose the wrong protocol — how do I change it?
Inverter page → settings form → “Protocol” field. The Deye Wi-Fi logger is Solarman V5 (port 8899), direct Modbus TCP is port 502; the port in the address adjusts itself. The connector picks up the change within about a minute.
